NIHR carbon reduction guidelines

How do you reduce research related carbon emissions?

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Carbon Reduction Guidelines outline key strategies aimed at reducing emissions in this field.

The 2012/13 NIHR budget was £959 million so there is great scope for acting in a more sustainable way.

The carbon reduction guidelines have been developed by researchers for researchers, with input from stakeholders across the NIHR. The document highlights areas where sensible research design can reduce waste without adversely impacting the validity and reliability of research.

The document is based on data collected by the Sustainable Development Unit.
